NPDB-HIPDB Announces Review of Reporting Codes
The National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) and Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB) are currently reviewing the NPDB-HIPDB Reporting Codes. These Codes include data field codes for Medical Malpractice Payment Reports, Adverse Action Reports, and Judgment or Conviction Reports. They encompass Basis for Action Codes, Act or Omission Codes, and Specific Allegations Codes. We are also looking at Type of Organization Codes, Specialty Codes, and Field of Licensure Codes. See the Reporting Codes to view and/or download the current Codes. You may have suggestions for additions or clarifications to these codes, particularly, if you are the reporter for an entity. Please send specific suggestions to the Data Banks at this e-mail address: PolicyAnalysis@hrsa.gov. Your ideas will help us facilitate the submission of thorough and complete reports to the Data Banks.
The Proactive Disclosure Service Prototype (PDS) Is Now Available!
All eligible entities who query the Data Banks are invited to participate. The PDS was developed in response to a growing interest in on-going monitoring of health care practitioners. Entities that subscribe to the PDS will receive notification within one business day of the Data Banks' receipt of a report on any of their enrolled practitioners. See the PDS for more information and to sign up to participate.
